Relationship Overview
Omihachiman was the first of Grand Rapids’ 5 sister cities. A middle school student exchange program, supported by Grand Rapids Public Schools, and a teacher exchange program added in 1993, provided many years of educational and cultural experience.
The Grand Rapids-Omi hosts a monthly “J-Chat” open to the public.
RECENT ACTIVITIES
- Negotiations are ongoing for an exchange between Founder’s Brewery in Grand Rapids and Two Rabbits Brewery in Omihachiman to mutually promote each city at festivals and other venues.
