Three thousand masks are currently in route to Adrian from Moriyama, Japan, the city’s sister city.

Jim Berryman, current president of the Michigan-Shiga Sister State Board, told The Daily Telegram Monday of the incoming donation. Michigan shares a sister state relationship with Shiga Prefecture, Japan’s version of a state. Moriyama is in Shiga.

The idea was all Kazuhiro Miyamoto’s, mayor of Moriyama, Berryman said.
“It really shows the 31 years of building a friendship,” the former Adrian mayor said. “It really is a strong depth of feeling in Adrian … and Moriyama.”
